Dr. Daniel N. Morris Memorial Scholarship

Special Announcement on Behalf of the Morris and Minkoff Families

March 21, 2012

Dear friends and family of Dr. Daniel Neil Morris,

We are pleased to announce the Dr. Daniel N. Morris Memorial Scholarship, an endowed fund available to the students of Boise State University.

The Dr. Daniel N. Morris Memorial Scholarship, awarded through the Communication Department, will provide financial assistance to students who can demonstrate their understanding of the role of journalism in promoting democracy.

Dan dedicated his life to journalism, education and the pursuit of the democratic debate. He received his bachelors and masters degrees in Journalism from Northwestern University and went on to obtain his Doctorate in Journalism from the University of Missouri. He was a reporter for many years at The Kansas City Star before he returned to academia as a professor of journalism at Boise State University. He relished his role as advisor for The Arbiter, the BSU student newspaper.

Please take a look at the formal announcement below for more information on the scholarship and how to donate. Donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt by mail for your gift.

The scholarship was made possible by an initial generous donation by Dan’s nephew, Edward Morris Minkoff.

We invite you to donate as a way to promote Dan’s legacy of friendship, education, and passion for the written word. And, please, if you know of friends of Dan that may be interested please forward on this announcement. **

Sincerely,

The Morris Family and the Minkoff Family
